Your Next Move - The New 7 Characters for My Next Career Path

First of all, I'm back to the real world which I used to belong... Sony Thai. 1 year in Singapore is very fast...but I could gain a lot of experience from there. It's not only understand what regional office way of working thinking, but I got tons of  advice & knowledge from Big Boss, my bros & HE colleagues. This is invaluable experience that dramatically change my mind set a lot during staying in Singapore

Back to my life, after going back from Singapore, I were assigned as Section Head of TV + HAV business. Of course, my role & responsibility have to be changed from operation-orientation to be planing-orientation...but I think I need to change my working habits in order to become an efficient business unit leader in the new chapter of my career path.

Anyway, I should thank "Your Next Move" book which I read last year because 1 chapter of that book explains about "How to Become a Business Under Leader" that explain about new characters which BU leader should learn & adapt. Frankly, I were impressed about these habits/ characters which is very helpful for me to change my working style.

Below is the summary of  The New 7 Characters for the Effective Business Unit Leader should have

1. From Specialist to Generalist (Cross Functional Fluency)

2. From Analyst to Integrator (Integrate Decision Making)

3. From Tactician to Strategist (Strategic Direction & Planning)
- The Mission & Goals (What)
- The Core Capability (Who)
- The Strategy (How)
- The Vision (Why)

4. From Bricklayer to Architect (Understand where & how a strategy, structure, system, process & skills interact)

5. From Warrior to Diplomat (I don't know I still have to concurrently be TV warrior or not, but I should learn more how to communicate more efficiently)

6. From Problem Solver to Problem Finder (able to identify & prioritize emerging threats & communicate them in ways that ORG can respond to)

7. From Role Holder to Role Model (Of course, I will share all what my respected boss taught & advised me to my team as much as possible, at least I do believe "In order to convince others, I'm suppose to act & do what I need them to like to be like me as well"

As above habits, This is my statement which I have to learn & adapt for my next move

" I have to learn more about unfamiliar functions / focus more on integrative problem solving / think more strategically / make some key organization decision choice / conduct effective diplomacy / present predictable surprise and become the role model of my team.

Sound interested right.. let see how much I can do & improve my character to be the effective business unit leader in 2013 :)
