[APPLE CEO] Tim Cook - Mr. Seihan / Supply-Chain Master

“Low Profile & High Impact CEO"
“Low Profile & High Impact CEO" is his nick name which was called by Wall Street Journal. But after I read his biography, I would like to call him as Mr. Seihan & SCM. (Suddenly, Sawaoka-san face was appeared in my mind :D)

Because of this guy didn't come from the pure IT, marketing or financial career path same as other CEOs in the silicon village, but his incredible contribution in supply-chain & operational specialist brought his to become the commander of red fruit company.

In short, he used to work in the IT industry such as IBM (12 years) & Compaq (only 6 months) before joining Apple in the position of COO… This is a starting point how his capability to attract Jobs to select him as his successor.

His masterpiece during wearing COO cap was not about create a wow product as Jobs did, but his job was kind of SCM & planning as we (SONY’er) call “Seihan Operation”

Below is his main responsibility & his outstanding performance why I would like call him as “Seihan & logistic Guru"

[What he change]
1. Restructure the inefficient production process (Logistis)
2. Supply Chain & Inventory Management (SEIHAN & D/S Management)
3. Cash Flow management (reduce DS & IFC > more Cash Flow)

[What is the result]

1. He could reduce Apple D/S from 31 days > 2 days only within 2 year
2. He applied “Direct Delivery Concept" by shipping apple products directly from factory in China to their 3rd Party warehouse.

With this, I’m not hesitate that say that sometime kind of a boring job likes “Seihan & SCM”
is key element to bring one man to become the world’s highest paid CEO likes Tim Cook.

PS. At least I have similar trait likes him is kind of Sportaholic guy. (but my branch DS is still higher than 30 days ^^)
